A firefighter is improving, but remains in critical condition after suffering a heart attack at a weekend fire in Garden City.

Murrells Inlet-Garden City firefighters were called to an apartment fire on Cambridge Circle around 3:30 Saturday.

Two firemen suffered from heat exhaustion. One of them is okay.

Assistant Chief Danny Lussier says the other man went into cardiac arrest. His name has not been released.

Lussier says the firefighter remains in intensive care at Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, but continues to improve. Lussier says the last two updates on the man's condition have been good and he has suffered no setbacks since early Monday.
