The Florence School District 4 School Board hired Steve Quick to serve as interim superintendent. He has more than 34 years in education. He most recently worked for the Marion County Board as a consultant. Befoe that, he was superintendent of Florence School District 2 from 1993 to 2009.
Dr. Bertha McCants announced last month she will retire June 30.
"The board is very pleased to have Mr. Quick lead our district for the coming school year. We will need his expertise in school finance and leadership in instruction to ensure our students are provided the best education possible," Board Chariwoman Rose Bacot said in a press release.
She said Quick will be available to meet the public at the board's next meeting beginning at 5:30 p.m. on June 28, in the cafeteria of the Timmonsville Educational Center, 304 Kemper Street, Timmonsville.
