(AP) -- LEXINGTON, S.C. (AP) - Lexington County sheriff's deputies say a 50-year-old convenience store clerk has been charged with selling cigarettes and smokeless tobacco to a fourth boy in exchange for being allowed to spank the teen.
Deputies said Wednesday that Terrence Bryant had been charged with a fourth count of committing a lewd act upon a child under age 16.
Sheriff James Metts says deputies began investigating Bryant last month after the father of a 12-year-old boy found him with a pack of Newport cigarettes. Detectives say Bryant sold the boy cigarettes several times from his pickup truck, spanking the child in the parking lot over his clothes.
Deputies say Bryant also sold tobacco to three 15-year-old boys after spanking them.
Bryant was in jail Wednesday. Deputies say he doesn't have an attorney yet.
