FLORENCE COUNTY (AP) -- Update : 10 accidents involving log trucks on a Paper Mill Road in Florence
Just after 8:15 Tuesday morning, a man driving a log truck overturned the 18-wheeler on Paper Mill Road in Florence County. The accident happened just a few miles away from Smurfit-Stone Container. (http://www.rocktenn.com/)
According to Chief John DeLung with the Windy Hill Volunteer Fire Department, the driver was trapped inside the cab when crews arrived on scene.
DeLung says his firefighters used the Jaws of Life to help get the driver out of the cab.
He says they cut through the roof and were able to slide him through the opening.
DeLung says the driver had some minor bruises and was taken to McLeod Health for treatment. He is expected to be OK.
According to DeLung, dozens of log trucks travel up and down the Paper Mill Road area every day heading to Smurfit-Stone Container.
He says they respond to about three accidents a year involving log trucks.
According to the South Carolina Office of Highway Safety, there have been 10 accidents on Paper Mill Road in Florence County involving log trucks since 2006.
The office says there have been a total of 300 collisons on Paper Mill Road resulting in five deaths.
The office says most of the accidents appear to occur from Thursday through Saturday.
Troopers with the South Carolina Highway Patrol often patrol that area because it has such a high volume of accidents.

In February, two Charleston County loggers were killed in a crash on Francis Marion Road in Florence County.
Francis Marion Road is not far from Paper Mill Road.
We have contacted SC Highway Patrol to get some information on the number of log truck accidents on or near Paper Mill Road.
