The Myrtle Beach SkyWheel on Ocean Boulevard.
The Myrtle Beach SkyWheel will open later than usual for Memorial Day weekend while crews perform software upgrades and tweak the light show.
According to the attraction's Facebook page, the SkyWheel will be open from 2:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday.
SkyWheel representatives have consistently posted information on the progress that's being made to correct the two issues. On Wednesday, the page read "Not a bad idea to be sure all is operating as expected! Thanks so much for your patience during this time we are taking to get it done right!"
General Manager Chris Trout told NewsChannel 15 the SkyWheel's software problems do not jeopardize the safety of the newly opened ride. It was shut down for the first time last weekend for 17 hours following a computer glitch that prevented the wheel from turning.
The SkyWheel sits 200 feet high near Plyer Park on Ocean Boulevard. It has 42 enclosed gondolas and is the largest ferris wheel east of the Mississippi River.
