Monday night, Board members with Marion County School District 2, the Mullins school district, held a meeting about the board's vice chairman, 39-year-old Shawn Harrelson

Officials tell us the board voted to recommend to the Marion County Board of Education that Harrelson be removed from the board for misconduct.

Last month, a 17-year-old student at Mullins High School filed an incident report with the Marion County Sheriff's Office accusing Harrelson of telephone harrassment.

The report says the student got harrassing text messages from Harrelson, about the student's friendship with Harrelson's daughter.

The report says nine text messages were sent by Harrelson to the student on April 13.

The boy reported it on April 20.

The student says he sent nine messages back to Harrelson because he didn't know the number or who was texting him.

According to the police report, Harrelson texted the 17-year-old saying "Do not call my daughter anymore." When the student texted back, asking who was texting him, the report says Harrelson's reply was, "your nightmare."

The rest of the exchange is detailed as follows in the police report:

Student: "Really, I don't know who you are"

Harrelson: "Her dad."

Student: "Do you know who I am"

Harrelson: "yes."

Student: "Then you know, I'm not a bad person."

Harrelson: "But you know what I am talking about"

Student: "And u know I'm a nice person and u don't have to come at me this way. U never know I just might be the best person for her."

Harrelson: "I know what is best for her. Stay away from her or I will notify police for harrassment."

Student: And who am I harrassing. Because it looks to me that you are doin that to me."

Harrelson: "Just stay away from her," according to the report.

Student: "I don't think I can do that. She is a nice person and I will not do anything to hurt her and I hope she feels the same way."

Harrelson: "Trust me you will."

Student: "Why do you say that explain?"

Harrelson: " Do not call her again last warning."

Student: "Or What?"

At this time, the sheriff's office has not indicated if any charges will be filed.

Deputies say no type of contact has been made since the incident occurred.

We called Harrelson's attorney to get a statement on behalf of his client, but so far we have yet to hear back from him.

The Marion County Board of Education appointed Harrelson to the Mullins board, so it will be up to the county board to decide if he should be removed.

It is unclear if the county board will discuss the matter at their meeting in June.
