Nearly 40 members of the Myrtle Beach branch of the NAACP met at the Myrtle Beach Train Depot Monday evening to discuss proposed new voting districts with the public.
The group reviewed the proposed redistricting plan drafted by the Horry County Council, as presented by Bobby Bowers, Statistician for the State of South Carolina.
Rev. Mickey James, President of the Myrtle Beach Chapter of the NAACP says the meeting is critical in educating the public.
"It's a challenge mentally, psychologically, and spiritually and so it motivates me to get more information that I don't understand and I can process to other people, so we can all gravitate and hold on to what we learn to make it a better community," James said Monday night.
