Several South Carolina senators say they think the Senate would approve a proposed deal to bring Amazon to the state, if they can just get the Senate to vote on it.
Two Republican and two Democratic senators said Monday they're working to bring the proposal to a vote this week.
The House voted 97-20 last week to approve the deal. The fight now moves to the Senate, which has been stuck in the budget debate for a month.
Democratic Sen. Joel Lourie of Columbia says the jobs are too important to be lost because of Senate procedural rules.
The proposal would give Amazon a five-year exemption from collecting sales tax from South Carolina's online shoppers, in exchange for creating at least 2,000 jobs with health benefits and investing $125 million.
