Horry County Fire Rescue and the South Carolina Highway Patrol responded to a fatal accident off the intersection of Dick Scobee Road and Ronald McNair Boulevard.
The accident happened about 4:30 Sunday afternoon.
According to Lt. Myron Creel with Horry County Police, a pilot flying overhead saw a pickup truck get into an accident and go into a retention pond.
Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard says the victim is a white male. An autopsy will be performed Monday.
Car debris was everywhere at the scene and there was damage to a nearby gate. There's no word yet on how the accident happened.
