Richard's Tire Incorporated on West McIntyre Street in Mullins.
MULLINS -- Officers with the State Law Enforcement Division are at the scene of a fire that destroyed Richard's Tire Incorporated on West McIntyre Street in Mullins Monday night.
Mullins Police Chief Kenneth Davis says it is routine for his department to call in state investigators for a commercial fire, and it doesn't mean they suspect arson.
He says a passerby saw the flames coming from the building just after 6:30 Monday night and called 911.
The fire was put out in about an hour, according to Davis.
Police and firefighters stayed at the scene throughout the night in case the fire rekindled.
Chief Davis says the loss of Richard's Tire is big blow to the community.
He says the business has been in Mullins for about 20 years, and a lot of people bought tires and had their cars serviced there.
At this point, they are not able to determine what caused the fire, but are hoping to have a better idea in the coming hours after SLED agents and their K-9 officers go through the debris in effort to pinpoint the fire's origin.
