When Florence County native Ken Ard took was elected to the office of Lt. Governor during the 2010 election cycle, he subsequently left vacant his Florence County Council seat.
A special election is taking place Tuesday find Ard's replacement.
Seven Florence County residents hoped to fill that seat, six on GOP ticket and one on the democratic ticket to represent District 2 - the southeast region of the county.
March 29th's primary election cut the republican field to one - Roger Poston - who will square up against Lavern Bazen.
Polls opened at 7:00 a.m. and close at 7:00 p.m.
