Joint VA-military clinic opening in SC Lowcountry

(AP) -- The first joint clinic in them Charleston area operated by the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Navy and the Air Force is opening its doors.

A ribbon cutting ceremony is set for Tuesday at the new clinic at the Joint Base Charleston Weapons Station.

The clinic offers optometry and audiology services for veterans, Defense Department dependents and retirees. The new clinic will help ease crowding at other clinics.

It's being staffed by five full-time Veterans Affairs employees.
