The North Myrtle Beach City Council will hold an Executive Session Monday evening to receive a legal briefing regarding former Public Safety Director William Bailey.
Bailey is suing the city for wrongful termination in May 2010. Several issues are cited in the suit that seeks $11 million in damages.
Trouble for Bailey started when his service weapon was stolen from his truck last year. City officials say Bailey told them the weapon had been locked in the vehicle's glove box, but it was later discovered the glove box didn't lock.
Bailey says he never told the city it was locked, but rather that it was "secured" in his truck.
North Myrtle Beach Public Information Officer Pat Dowling says officials will not comment on Monday's closed door Executive Session. Executive Sessions are not open to the media. Executive Sessions are often held for personnel matters.
It is scheduled at 5 p.m. at North Myrtle Beach City Hall.
