The accident happened at 12:40 a.m. on highway 501 near Singleton Ridge Road.
Lance Corporal Sonny Collins with the Highway Patrol says the driver of a 2007 Toyota pickup truck traveling north on highway 501 crossed the median into the southbound lanes hitting a 2001 Nissan SUV. The driver of the SUV died and two others inside the car were injured.
Horry County Deputy Coroner Tony Hendricks says the victim is 41-year-old Deanna Lynn Plyer of Heath Springs, SC.
After that collision, Collins says the driver of the pickup truck also hit a 2006 Honda, that driver was uninjured.
The driver of the pickup truck is in the hospital.
The accident is under investigation by the Highway Patrol's Multi-disciplinary Accident Investigation Team.
At this time no charges have been filed.
