Thousands of people are heading to Darlington for the big Southern 500 race this weekend.
Darlington Raceway workers say ticket sales really picked up Monday.
Last year, the raceway was just 8,000 fans short of the 75,000 it takes to sell out the track.
Track officials won't say how many tickets have been sold so far, but spokesman Jake Harris says they hope for another near sellout crowd. "Ticket sales are going really well - picked up in last couple of weeks and people are finally getting into the race the mindset realizing the race is right around the corner."
Qualifying is set to start at 5:10 Friday afternoon.
The Royal Purple 200 follows at 7:30 p.m Friday.
The Southern 500 will start at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
