An early morning fire in Georgetown County damaged a building on highway 17 business in Murrells Inlet. It houses Big Ass Sandwich Shop, Murrells Inlet Design Custom Printing, Capt. John's Barber Shop and Inlet Architectural Design.

Murrells Inlet Garden City Fire and Rescue crews responded at 4:50 a.m Sunday when a cab driver saw the fire and called for help.

Captain Scott Gosnell says the fire took about 40 minutues to extinguish.

Most of the damage is in the roof area of the building.

Gosnell adds a lot of work will need to be done before the businesses can reopen.

No other nearby buildings were damaged.

The cause is under investigation.

Midway Fire Rescue and Surfside Beach Fire Department assisted.
