(AP) -- COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Home sales and prices were down in South Carolina last month and for the whole first quarter from the same time last year.

The South Carolina Realtors Association released their monthly report Friday on condominium and home sales for March and the first quarter.

Total sales for March were down 8 percent with just more than 4,000 units sold. The median price for the month was down about 1.5 percent at $145,000.

For the quarter, sales were off 3.7 percent with about 9,750 units sold. Prices were off 4 percent at $140,000.

The report says last year's numbers were boosted by the federal tax incentive for first-time homebuyers.

The tax credit expired last April.
