FLORENCE, SC -- The Greater Florence Chamber of Commerce is heading to Washington, DC to meet with their congressional delegation about issues impacting the Pee Dee.
The chamber's president says they plan to talk about securing a second airline for Florence Regional Airport.
In December, Delta pulled out after nearly 30 years of doing business there.
"We have become a business hub," said Tom Marschel, President of the Greater Florence Chamber of Commerce. "The Pee Dee, and particularly Florence, is a transportation hub. It's a medical hub, but it's also a transportation hub and consequently having service with two major airlines is just a real benefit to the economic development in the community."
They also plan to discuss more federal funding for the Pee Dee Regional Transportation Authority (PDRTA).
About a dozen people with head to Washington Tuesday morning and return Thursday.
