You can visit the Library of Congress without traveling to our nation's capitol.
The library's "Gateway to Knowledge" traveling exhibit is in Florence next to the library on South Irby Street.
The exhibition is mounted on a customized 18-wheeler. Inside, there are multimedia displays and high-quality facsimiles of the library's top treasures, including the rough draft of the Declaration of Independence.
Abigail Van Gelder with the Library of Congress says, "The Library of Congress isn't off limits. It's not just stuffy old books. They add more than 10,000 items everyday, so it's constantly growing. And as you use the Library of Congress, it only becomes better and more rich with those resources."
Computer stations are set up to help you research more information at the library.
The exhibit is free.
It will be open Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
