(AP) -- WELLFORD, S.C. (AP) - South Carolina officials say the man accused of driving a pickup truck that hit a teen's car, killing the youth on a stretch of highway named for his dead father, did not have a valid driver's license.
Department of Motor Vehicles spokeswoman Beth Parks said Friday that 27-year-old Michael Blake White lost his license in June 2010 because of speeding violations.
Authorities say White crossed a center line Thursday and hit the Honda driven by 18-year-old Aaron Shawn Hill.
The portion of the highway where the crash occurred was named "Sergeant Shawn F. Hill Memorial Highway." The 37-year-old member of the U.S. Army National Guard was killed in Afghanistan in 2008 when his vehicle hit a roadside bomb.
