FLORENCE -- Florence police officers and firefighters responded to Carolinas Hospital System on Pamplico Highway around 1:45 p.m. Thursday, after a report of a fire in a patient's room.
The fire was in a room on the 9th floor. Spokesman Ken Carr, with the Florence Fire Department, says firefighters helped hospital employees put out the fire.
Police are directing traffic away from the front of the hospital and have the front entrance blocked. The other entrances are still in use and the hospital is still accepting patients.
We'll post more details as we get them.
