FLORENCE, SC -- Spokesman Ken Carr, of the Florence Fire Department, says the 12 people evacuated following a gas leak in east Florence have been allowed to return to their homes.

Fire officials say around 11:40 Wednesday morning a crew working in a yard near Kent and Pine streets accidentally cut a natural gas service line.

Police closed off a five block area and fire officials ordered residents to leave their homes.

The company responsible for the line arrived and repaired the line.
