CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - This Cooper River Bridge Run and Walk in Charleston will mark the last few minutes of the single life for two of the estimated 40,000 participants.

Andy Cook and Tina Berwanger plan to run Saturday's race in custom-designed wedding attire then tie the knot in Charleston's Marion Square before family, friends and thousands of their fellow runners.

The couple won a contest sponsored by Carnival Cruise Lines, which last year based its Carnival Fantasy permanently in Charleston.

The race, now in its 34th year, is one of the ten largest 10-K races in the nation. The course takes runners from Mount Pleasant, across the sweeping Ravenel Bridge and into the streets of downtown Charleston.

Organizers estimate 40,000 people participated in this years race.
