Pee Dee area residents looking for employment opportunities are welcome to attend a job fair at the Florence National Guard Armory on Thursday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
More than 60 employers, agencies and schools will be at the event.
"We encourage folks to get there early, bring resumes and make sure to be well-dressed to make a good impression. The employers will have a room setup to conduct some interviews if that should come to pass," John Timmons, with the South Carolina Department of Social Services, said.
The Pee Dee Regional Transportation Authority will provide free transportation on the Florence Transit System as well as rides to and from Dillon, Marion and Mullins. Click here for a list of times and locations.
South Carolina's 10.2% unemployment rate in February tied with Mississippi and Oregon as the nation's 6th highest.
"I think the long lines that you'll see out there tomorrow morning show that things aren't all together better quite yet. We certainly want to help these folks get on their feet as soon as possible," Timmons said.
The South Carolina Department of Social Services, South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce, South Carolina Vocational Rehabilitation Department and PDRTA are sponsoring the event.
The Florence National Guard Armory is located at 400 South Greer Road near the Florence Regional Airport.
