(AP) -- COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Opponents of legislation requiring South Carolina voters to show photo identification at the polls say lawmakers aren't considering the full costs of the measure.
Advocates for the poor, disabled and minorities plan to hold a news conference Tuesday at the Statehouse to protest the bill.
Republican legislators pushing the bill say it's an issue of voter integrity. Democrats complain it would discourage poor, elderly and disabled voters who lack driver's licenses from going to the polls.
The bill allows eligible voters to get a free photo ID. Opponents say lawmakers have underestimated the full cost.
The Senate has again amended the House bill to allow for early voting. The measure died last year with the House and Senate unable to agree on a compromise between their versions.
