DILLON -- A 26-year-old man was burned on his face and hands after his mobile home caught on fire.

Chief Buddy Ray, with Dillon County Fire Station Four, says the fire started in a back bedroom at a mobile home on Highway 9 East in the Riverdale community, Tuesday morning.

Ray says the father smelled smoke and got his wife and 26 year old son out of the home.

A neighbor saw what was going on and called 911.

Ray says the son had burns to his face and hands and was taken to the Augusta Burn Center in Georgia.

His name and condition are not being released at this time.

Crews put the fire out within about an hour, but it rekindled 45 minutes later and destroyed the home.

Chief Ray says because they're unable to determine what initially started the fire or caused it to rekindle, they've turned the investigation over to the Dillon County Sheriff's Office.
