Fire displaces four Florence families

FLORENCE -- Fire damaged an apartment at 711 Oakland Avenue in Florence at 9:41 p.m. Tuesday. Smoke and water damaged three other apartments.

When Florence firefighters arrived, smoke and flames were coming from the second floor of the apartment building.

Firefighters say the fire started in the kitchen of a second floor apartment. The person living in the apartment where the fire started was treated by Florence County EMS, but was not taken to the hospital.

ThePee Dee Chapter of the American Red Cross is helping the four families affected by the fire.
