Judge Thomas W. Cooper declared a mistrial Thursday night in the case against State Representative Kris Crawford of Florence.

Crawford was accused of not filing tax returns on time and was being tried at the Florence County Courthouse this week.

The jury started their deliberations about 4pm, and six hours later when they told the judge they were hopelessly deadlocked, he declared a mistrial.

Authorities say Crawford did not file state income taxes on time from 2004 to 2007.

He denies the charges.

The State Attorney General's office prosecuted this case. There's no word on if or when they will re-try Crawford.
