Former Lee County sheriff EJ Melvin should find out his sentence on Thursday.
LEE COUNTY -- Former Lee County sheriff E.J. Melvin is scheduled to be sentenced Thursday in federal court.
Federal documents show Melvin's sentencing hearing could take two days. The sentencing hearing has already been rescheduled three times.
In November, a jury convicted Melvin of nearly 40 charges including drug conspiracy and racketeering.
Melvin used his position as sheriff to help organized drug trafficking and bribery activities.
He extorted money from drug dealers in exchange for protection from investigation.
Melvin faces up to life in prison and $4 million in fines.
