MYRTLE BEACH -- An Horry County 7th grader was hit by a car Wednesday afternoon.

Horry County Schools spokeswoman Teal Britton says the boy got off the bus and was hit by a car while he was crossing the street.

Myrtle Beach police say the 12-year-old ran into the road on Blynn Drive. That's off 62nd Avenue North near the Highway 17 By-pass.

He was taken to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center for treatment. Britton says the boy's leg is in a splint. But beyond that, she doesn't know the extent of his injuries.

Police say the driver of the car will not face charges.
