A board denied parole Wednesday for an Horry County man who was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter in 2010.

Asghar Eliaderani, 56, was charged with strangling his wife Farrah Abassi, at their Socastee convenience store in March of 2008.

Eliaderani is eligible for parole because he's served one year and three months of his five year sentence. However, the Horry County Solicitor's Office confirmed parole was denied after a board heard statements from his children.

During the trial, prosecutors said Eliaderani killed his wife during an argument at the Socastee Mini-Mart, located at 8545 SC Highway 544. His attorney said Eliaderani's wife attacked him first with a knife, and her death may have been the result of cardiac arrest.

Eliaderani's children testified against him during the trial.

After 12 hours of deliberations, the jury found Eliaderani guilty of involuntary manslaughter which implies reckless disregard for another's life.

He will be eligible for parole again in March 2012.
