Terrance Parm, 17, of High Point, NC, is on trial this week in Marion County for the murder of Kanisha McLaughlin.
She was shot to death outside a Mullins hotel in 2008. Police believed she was killed as part of a murder-for-hire scheme. Prosecutors say she was a confidential informant in a case and was killed before she could testify against someone with a pending drug charge.
Solicitor Ed Clements says Parms is the one who pulled the trigger, killing McLaughlin.
Clements says Parms was paid for the murder, but he's not sure how much.
Dewayne Terry, Karen Worley and Davares Brantley, all of Marion County, are also charged in connection with McLaughlin's murder.
Judge Michael Nettles is presiding over the trial, which is expected to last through the week.
We'll let you know when a verdict is reached.
