Aynor Middle School students and faculty worked for several months to raise money to support U.S. troops.

The Wounded Warrior Project is a nonprofit organization that provides comfort and aid to the most severely injured service men and women returning from Iraq and Afghanistan.

Through various fundraisers, students raised $5,200 since September. The money will fill 53 backpacks with basic toiletries, CD players and calling cards.

The backpacks are $99 each and will be delivered to the soldier's bedside when they arrive at the military trauma center.

Ms. Tammy Price wanted to teach her 7th graders about the Wounded Warrior Project because, "the greatest casualty is being forgotten."
