Flags will fly at half staff today in memory of a fallen South Carolina soldier.

Almost a year after President Barrack Obama declared an end to combat operations in Iraq, a soldier from Columbia has died while supporting Operation New Dawn.

The Department of Defense says Army Specialist Lashawn D. Evans,24, died Tuesday February 15th in a non-combat related incident.

Evans was based out of Fort Riley, Kansas.
