Dozens of people came to the Sea Captain's House restaurant in Myrtle Beach for Coastal Uncorked's Oyster Roast. This will be the second year for the weeklong food event. Participants enjoyed a live band, wine, and several unique variations of oysters.
"Each chef did their own flair on their oyster and did their own mix on it," said Candace Howell, Executive Director for Coastal Uncorked.
Organizers also announced their judges for the food challenge today.
"The Lee Brothers, two world renowned chefs from Charelston {are} coming in to be celebrity judges for us," added Howell.
They won the 2007 James Beard Foundation Cookbook of the Year Award for "The Lee Bros. Southern Cookbook Stories and Recipes for Southerners and Would-be Southerners."
Another big draw to the this year's Coastal Uncorked: Celebrity chef Paula Dean. Tickets have been selling from both near and far, Howell said.
"They're coming from Chicago, New York, New Jersey, Alabama as far as Canada," she said.
Organizers say they've already sold several hundred tickets to her cooking demonstration at the Alabama theatre in Barefoot Landing, and that a VIP demonstration with Paula Dean sold out within 30 minutes of going on sale.
