HORRY COUNTY -- A hearing to determine whether the student charged in the Socastee High School shooting will be tried as an adult or juvenile has been rescheduled.

Horry County Solicitor Alicia Richardson says the waiver trial will begin on March 14.

The 14-year-old boy is accused of shooting at a school resource officer in September, 2010. Prosecutors say the teen, whose name is not being released because he's a juvenile, had pipe bombs in his backpack when went into officer Erik Karney's office and fired a shot, narrowly missing Karney who was wounded by shrapnel.

The student has been charged with attempted murder and explosive charges.

He will remain in the Department of Juvenile Justice Detention Center until the hearing.
