Students at a Pee Dee school have learned a lot about the African culture in celebration of Black History Month.

Friday, fifth graders at North Vista Elementary School in Florence showcased their skills in african dance and drumming. Dancers and singers with the group Vorenya spent this entire week teaching the kids about the West African culture.

The group is listed on South Carolina's Arts Commission. The school invited them to be a part of their black history celebration.

"I'm really happy because we learned so many things about today," said Erica Moses.

The group has toured more than 250 schools in South Carolina in the past 10 years.
