Surfside Beach police say a car hit and killed a pedestrian Thursday morning in the 100 block of Highway 17 Business North. It happened just after 6:30 a.m.

Horry County Deputy Coroner Darris Fowler identifies the man as Christopher Albright, 61, of Surfside Beach.

Police say the driver of the car that hit Albright is cooperating with the investigation.

SBPD's Traffic Collision Reconstruction Specialist investigated the crash. That investigator also requested assistance from SC Highway Patrol's Multi-disciplinary Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) in regard to the mechanical investigation of the vehicle involved.

No charges have been filed.
