Dillon County school districts 1, in Lake View, and 2, in Dillon, are considering merging administrative positions as a way to save money.
Richard Schaffer, Chairman of the Dillon County School Board, said his board got a resolution last week from school board members in Dillon School District 1.
Schaffer said the resolution asked the county board to approve a move to consolidate Lake View and Dillon's administrative services.
Schaffer said Lake View is having a tough time because of federal stimulus money that will run out and pending state budget cuts.
There are about 850 students in the Lake View district.
The Dillon County Board of Education is expected vote on the resolution Wednesday morning.
Schaffer told us if board members approve the consolidation of services, it will allow Lake View to keep their three schools open.
Monday, we posted a story about the pros and cons of consolidating school districts. You can read that story here.
