CONWAY -- Conway police say they've arrested a suspect in connection with a home invasion on Palmetto Street Monday night, where a woman was shot three or four times.
Conway Police Public Information Officer Catina Hipp says the suspect, whose name has not been released, broke out a window at the woman's home about 9:45 p.m., got inside, and fired a handgun several times, striking the victim several times in her mouth, collar bone and arm.
She is in critical but stable condition at a hospital.
When officers arrived, the woman was on her front porch. There were three other people inside at the time. They were not hurt.
Police say the suspect and the victim had a past romantic relationship.
Officers arrested the suspect at his home in the Longs area of Horry County. He is expected to be charged Tuesday afternoon, when police will probably release his name.
