The Lake City community is mourning the death of its fire chief.

Monday afternoon, Tony Singletary passed away following a sudden illness. City officials tell us he suffered a brain aneurysm at his home Saturday morning.

He died Monday afternoon at McLeod Health hospital in Florence.

Singletary worked for the city fire department for 26 years. He served as chief for the last six years.

Lake City Mayor Lovith Anderson remembers Singletary as a man who gave his heart and soul to Lake City.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time.
