From 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, the City of Myrtle Beach's Human Rights Commission is hosting a public forum called "Too many children left behind: Closing the achievement gap."

The forum will involve educators from the public school system as well as area colleges and technical colleges. After participants hear from speakers, they'll break into small groups to talk about ways to improve education and access to education.

The mission of the Myrtle Beach Human Rights Commission is to "foster and encourage the growth and development of the city to assure that all persons have equal opportunity to live free of discrimination imposed because of race, creed, color, sex, national origin, ancestry, marital status, physical disability or age."

The forum is being held at Myrtle Beach Middle School.
