School Bus Accident Shuts Down Traffic
 / Holly Morgan
Lance Corporal Sonny Collins, with South Carolina Highway Patrol, says a school bus was traveling west on Highway 544 in Horry County Friday morning when it was hit by a car.
He says the car, driven by John Davis of Myrtle Beach, was traveling east and made a left turn in front of the school bus. It happened near the Highway 17 Bypass around 7:15 a.m. The crash backed up traffic for about an hour.
The school bus had just dropped students off at Lakewood Elementary and was heading to Forestbrook Middle School, according Horry County Schools Public Information Officer Teal Britton.
Davis was charged with failure to yield and taken to Waccamaw Community Hospital.
The school bus driver and one student on board were not hurt.
