LANCASTER (AP) -- South Carolina state police are investigating the shooting death of a man by a Lancaster County sheriff's deputy at a car wash.

Authorities say the shooting happened around 7 p.m. Monday just south of Lancaster.

Neither the names of the dead man or the deputy have been released.

The State Law Enforcement Division is investigation. Sheriff's Maj. David Belk says his agency is doing an internal investigation.

Car wash owner Kevin Montgomery says deputies were called after a man who appeared to be drunk drove his truck into a drain in one of the bays.

No one else was hurt.
