MYRTLE BEACH -- Thursday night, the Fraternal Order of Police made a donation for the Polar Plunge.
The state chapter donated $7,000, and the local chapter, Coastal Carolina Lodge 12, gave $3,000 for a total of $10,000.
The FOP presented the check to Horry County Police Officer Marcus Rhodes. Officer Rhodes, along with Officer Eric Karney, Officer Felix Cruz, DJ Wally B from Movin 94.5, and NewsChannel 15's own Chief Meteorologist Ed Piotrowski will take a polar plunge in the ocean if they raise $100,000 for South Carolina Special Olympics.
"Come plunge! Bring your registration fee Saturday the 5th (of February) to Springmaid Beach Resort. Run in the water, run out and the warm feeling that you get knowing that you made a significant contribution lasts all year long - past the cold, past the, 'Oh my goodness I can't believe I'm out here!' Past all of that," said Officer Rhodes.
