(AP) -- An Anderson County town is looking for more police officers.

The Anderson Independent-Mail reported that Sgt. Tim Striss resigned from the Iva Police Department this week, leaving the town with only three officers.

The department is supposed to have five officers, but another officer resigned in November.

Mayor Bobby Gentry said Wednesday he hopes that Police Chief Thomas Miller can hire an officer this week.

Striss says a complaint by his ex-wife that he had filed a false police report had nothing to do with his decision to resign. Striss has worked for the department for six years.

He says he wants to pursue a career as an emergency medical technician.
