(AP) -- South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley is off to a better start than her predecessor when it comes to reporting airplane flights.
Haley spokesman Rob Godfrey says Haley flew to San Diego on a donor's plane two weeks after her election in November. The information comes months before an April reporting deadline.
Godfrey said Wednesday that Haley will keep a flight log available to reporters of her travel on private, state and commercial planes.
Former Gov. Mark Sanford was investigated for private flights he took but did not disclose. Sanford said he didn't have to because those trips were gifts from friends.
State Ethics Commission director Herb Hayden said there was no proof of those friendships. Sanford ultimately disclosed the flights and closed that chapter of the investigation by paying a record $74,000 fine.
