(AP) -- Beaufort County authorities say the release of a video showing a Christmas Eve shooting could affect the defendant's ability to get a fair trial.

Prosecutor Duffie Stone tells The Island Packet of Hilton Head that the video shows a tow truck driver shooting at the 34-year-old victim. It was provided to the media by the victim's brother.

Authorities say 27-year-old Preston Ryan Oates of Bluffton, co-owner of a company called Pro Tow, is charged with manslaughter and felony possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

Carlos Alberto Olivera was shot six times during an argument over a boot on Olivera's minivan.

Sheriff P.J. Tanner and Stone say they didn't realize a video had been made. Tanner says it's a hindrance to the case and they had asked the victim's brother not to discuss the incident.
