The former public works director for the Town of Surfside Beach is suing the town after town council voted to fire him back in January 2010.

Councilman Doug Samples confirms he has also been singled out as a defendant in the lawsuit.

Surfside Beach Mayor Alan Deaton confirms that 45-year-old Robert Tyrone Taylor has served the city with a wrongful termination lawsuit.

Back in December, 2010 Taylor was arrested and charged with having an open container of alcohol in a vehicle. He was arrested while driving a town owned pickup on the beach.
