(AP) -- South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley has chosen a veteran employee to take over the state's alcohol and drug abuse agency.
Haley on Friday said she has chosen Robert Toomey to lead the Department of Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Services. Toomey formerly was interim director of the Department of Health and Human Services.
He also previously worked for the General Assembly.
Haley says she made the announcement at the Department of Mental Health because the alcohol agency is moving into the mental health building to rent money.
Toomey's selection must be confirmed by the state Senate.
